<\/a>\nNikki Webster has re-released her popular single ‘Strawberry kisses’ 16 years after its original release. (BMG\/Red Music Publishing)<\/em><\/p>\n
In a post to her personal business\u2019 Facebook page, Nikki Webster said she was thrilled to re-release the song.<\/p>\n
\u201cSoooo excited it’s out – thank you all so much for your support on this fun journey,\u201d Webster wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cWould really love as much support as we can get if you could jump on iTunes and purchase the track to raise money for a wonderful charity Starlight Children’s Foundation Australia all proceeds are going to the kids!\u201d<\/p>\n
Webster also alluded to the possibility of releasing more music down the track.<\/p>\n
The re-releases features newly recorded vocals by Webster and a rap from Channel 7 weatherman Sam Mac.<\/p>\n
The pair performed the song together on top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge earlier this year.<\/p>\n
In 2015, Webster opened up about the struggles she faced in the wake of her abrupt rise to fame after singing Under the Southern Skies<\/em> at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games opening ceremony.<\/p>\n In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Webster said she was forced to relocate to the US after becoming \u201cthe punchline of everyone\u2019s joke\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was dark,\u201d she said, likening the experience to tall poppy syndrome.<\/p>\n \u201cPeople were telling me how I needed to change my career and break through like Britney and change my image and I was thinking, \u2018Is this me?\u2019 It was confusing.\u201d<\/p>\n Webster is now married to Qantas flight attendant Matthew McMah.
