Currently Eventainment in conjunction with yellow glass theatre inc. is producing the Tribal Love-Rock Musical HAIR and bringing it to the Regal Theatre in Perth in May 2007. We have already secured the services of nationally recognized artists Cosima De Vito, Rob Mills and Cle Wootton of Australian Idol fame, and ‘Mo’ and ‘Variety Heart’ award winner Nikki Webster to star in the production. Hair will be the first in a series of musical theatre productions produced by Eventainment aimed at finally bringing internationally recognised musicals to WA at the quality standards befitting musicals of their stature. To do this we use recognised international and national artists as well as highly trained Australian actors, such as graduates of NIDA or WAAPA and all our actors and musicians are paid well for their services.

Plot

The musical follows “The Tribe”, a group of politically active, long-haired Hippies of the “Age of Aquarius” fighting against conscription to the Vietnam War. Among them are Claude and Berger; a pair of friends battling against Claude’s draft notice, and Sheila, who is in love with both of them, but whose politically active lifestyle leaves her little time to act on her feelings. Together with Jeanie, Woof, Crissy, Hud and Dionne, among others, they epitomize the hippie days of the late Sixties. Ultimately, Claude and Berger lose the battle, as Claude decides that the tribe life isn’t for him and goes to Vietnam.
